Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia is an increase in the amount of breast tissue in men that affects both breasts, caused by an imbalance between the hormones estrogen and testosterone. Gynecomastia is an aesthetic problem that can occur for different reasons, although it usually develops due to hormonal imbalances that can be observed in all age groups in men. Breast tissue regains its former form by removing excess tissue and removing skin when necessary.

Patients should expect to have dressings and bandages on their incisions. Some doctors may suggest wearing compression garments or elastic bandages to minimize the swelling. Swelling goes away gradually. Patients shouldn't feel anything other than slight discomfort or numbness around the area. If the patient feels pain, it is possible to prescribe painkillers. Patients can return to their work around one week after the surgery. It takes a few weeks to recover completely and return to exercise routines. Resting, avoiding alcohol consumption & smoking will speed up the recovery process.
