Gastric Bypass

Gastric bypass surgery reshapes the digestive system to create a smaller stomach pouch and reroute the intestines. This procedure limits food intake and nutrient absorption, promoting significant weight loss. It’s effective in improving or resolving obesity-related conditions like diabetes and hypertension. However, it requires lifelong commitment to dietary changes and regular exercise for sustained results. Potential candidates should discuss risks, benefits, and post-operative care with a healthcare provider to determine if gastric bypass is suitable for their weight loss journey.

Gastric Bypass Surgery Process:
Creation of a Small Gastric Pouch:
The surgeon creates a small pouch at the top of the stomach, thereby limiting the amount of food a person can consume.
Connection to the Small Intestine:
The newly created gastric pouch is connected directly to
a lower portion of the small intestine, bypassing a significant
part of the stomach and the intestine.
Caloric Intake Limitation and Nutrient Absorption Reduction:
The reduced stomach capacity contributes to limiting caloric intake.
The direct connection to the small intestine reduces
nutrient absorption.

Benefits of Gastric Bypass Surgery:
Significant Weight Loss:
Patients may experience significant weight loss
in the postoperative period.
Improvements in Health Conditions:
Surgery can lead to notable improvements in conditions such
as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and sleep apnea.
Reduction in the Risk of Obesity-Related Complications:
Risks associated with obesity, such as heart diseases and
metabolic disorders, can be reduced.
Positive Impact on Quality of Life:
Patients frequently report significant improvements
in their quality of life and mobility.

Gastric Bypass Before & After Photos
In our ‘Soul for Soul’ social responsibility project, we offer gastric bypass surgery support to one patient monthly, aiding them in transitioning to a healthy, new life. We believe that by amplifying love at the brink of a healthy lifestyle, we can nurture its expansion.
Gastric Bypass Techniques
Two common gastric bypass techniques which are preferred by most surgeons are Roux-En-Y and Mini Gastric Bypass. The appropriate technique can be different for each patient. The doctor decides which method is better for a specific patient during the consultation.
Roux En Y: The classic, laparoscopic method in which a small pouch is created and tied to the intestines.
Mini Gastric Bypass: This method can be applied depending on the size of the stomach and BMI of the patient. It’s a shorter surgery with an easier recovery. Click here for more information on mini-gastric bypass.

It’s best to avoid greasily and junk food a week before your operation day. It’s better to incorporate more liquid into your diet for easier digestion and cleanse. If you smoke or consume alcohol regularly, take a break around one week before your operation. Incorporate more soups and vegetables into your diet towards your operation date. Drink more liquids with every meal.
